Page 2 of 3 Supporter's Observations Well… Upon returning from a very nerve-racking tour to Zim, there are a few things that really stood out for me as a supporter. Despite the circumstances in which I think most of Zimbabwe find themselves in, the welcome and hospitality we all received while we were there, was incredible to say the least.
Every detail was taken care of, from the transport, to the food and the entire drinks tab, (which we all know can get a bit excessive). Not once did anyone from the South African camp really need to dig into their own pockets for anything and I think that as South Africans should really learn something from this. If anything, I think we tend to consider ourselves to be somewhat better off than our neighbors in Zim, and yet they had no problem providing us with anything we needed. I ask myself whether we are able to provide the same hospitality with our internationals to be hosted in Esctcourt, just around the corner. With this in mind, I think huge thanks are in order to all for not only hosting our teams but for really making our stay that much more brilliant.
The polo-x was played in great spirits. The games left both our countries supporters on the edge of their seats. With teams and support like we experienced, polo-x against Zimbabwe should really never be underrated and I think the experience that all the players and supporters came away with, will really be unforgettable.
To Helene, I would just like to extend yet another well deserved thank you for all the hard work she put in to making this tour possible. I know a simple thank you is not payment enough for all the late nights of organizing, but I know it meant the world to all the parents and players alike.
So just one last thank you and GOOD LUCK to all the touring teams and we look forward to hosting the tournament in Estcourt, hopefully in the same fashion as what we experienced this last week end.
Regards, Olgna Taylor
