The African Horse Sickness Trust Reg IT 2043/2005 PMB For the last 7 days these appears to be continual cases reported from the current hot spots namely Grahamstown to Port Elizabeth and North of Gauteng particularly Muldersdrift.
In the last 7 days 42 new cases have been reported. Three new isolated cases from KZN and one from Nelspruit. Historically it was assumed that the disease originated from the Lowveld annually - how different the picture is now. Of note majority of deaths seem to be horses below the age of 3. For the record we have had a report of two suspect cases in Robertson in the Western Cape and samples were urgently sent to Equine Research and OVI and both results came back NEG. I have only included the reports from the last 7 days in this mail. Please insist that all cases you hear of are reported on the website: www.africanhorsesickness.co.za Regards Douglas Welsh |
